tiffin time : was reading
this article in The Week. Leh to manali cycling trip.
and made me reallly sad.
had planned for this trip (ok not exactly this - reversed - manali to leh) in june.but money probs :((
was going to cost me a lot ( keep in mind - i'm still in my college days). so had to ditch it. didnt want to burden my old-man with this. dad ke enuf paise uda diya hai maine.
and the irony - now i dont have the money and have loads of time for such things - and after i join a job - it'll b the other way arnd !!! (ok not loads of money - but enuf for such kinda trips :D).
but one thing is for sure - i'll do the kailash-mansarover lake trek b4 i die !! yeah !! and this manali-leh cycling trip (mayb next summers). then sikkim...arunachal pradesh..shillong (my dad's childhood abode)..uttaranchal...gaumukh..andamans..lakshwadeep..damn !! my wishlist is long ...
heres another rhymieeee considering my present mood..
ohh how much i long..
to be alone...
far from this maddening crowd..
to take a walk on my own..
pack my bag...
to go on a trip...
forget everything...
to get a grip..
need something..
to free my mind..
guess this is the way..
to get away from the grind..
ps: ny filthy rich blogger amongst us?? mite patao him for a trip with me :D

rough draft submitted (yippiieee!!). final report and presentation within a few weeks.
till that time - total time pass karne kaa. saw a few movies - "along came polly", "the cooler", "spun", "man on fire", "the girl with the pearl ear-ring". "win a date with tad hamilton" and friends latest episode!! (hehe - all this while i was "penning" down my report :D).
and for a long time now - been thinking of trying my hands at poetry. the only funda i got is that the words shud rhyme (not sure about that either - never read many poems as such).
so here's the first crap i wrote last nite : a tribute to all who fag and booze !!! (that includes me :D).
my sight's blurred... sounds seem more merrier..
all the world's a bitch.. and i'm the anguished warroir..
it's been ages.. since i felt good..
cant recall the last time.. as a proud man i stood..
here i lie.. dejected and wasted...
trying to find answers.. to the defeats i have tasted ..
whats wrong with me???..is all i inquire...
why cant i achieve ... the things that i desire...
my passion for life.. is drowning in this beer..
and the road ahead... isnt very clear...
so i smoke .. all my worries away..
since i know.. i cant let this feeling hold sway...

the fart indian elections !!!
elysia's post about the indian election reminded me of one article i had read few months back - many people might have read it too - but still heres the gist - shows how this total election process is a farce !!
situation : say for eg election taking place in a constituency with a voter strength of 3000 people.
scenario : 3 parties (not an uncommon scene - am taking 3 for simplicity - in real life - in india atleast this number is HUGE!!! ) : A,B and C.
party "A" : say for example BJP - generates extreme reaction amongst the masses. set to get 1200 votes (not a majority mind u !!).
IMP : assume the remaining 1800 people r totally against A.
party "B" and "C" : like the Congress party - the middle-road party. the non-"A" voters divided equally over the 2 parties - so each gets arnd 900 votes.
so the final tally :
A: 1200
B: 901
C: 899
Result : A wins !!! (even though supposedly 1800 people voted against it !!! - the beauty of divide-and-rule funda).
See the irony in all this !!!
The solution : STV (single transferable vote) : in this the voter gives his vote in the preference order of the parties he likes - so not a single vote - but multiple votes but with a weightage.
i wouldnt bore u with the intricacies of STV : if u wanna know what it is - read the papers !! :P

pre-ps (:D) - dont wanna offend ny surdars out there, this is the case with a certain individual only :D
ok - so have surdar as a batchmate - a
mona one - but still his actions always throw up his "true" side so as to say.
so the story goes like - few of my friends were having a drink at SP (the nearest bar to our insti) - they conjured up a plan of playing a prank - and who else can b the most unsuspecting victim other than surdar (lets call him H)!!
time : 2 in the morning.
act 1: AG calls up H on his mobile - no response (reason : H left his mobile in his room when he went out).
act 2: AG calls up H's wingmate P - introduces himself as Ashish from AT&T labs and he wants to talk to H.
act 3: P finds H and hands him his mobile - H gives a 40mins telephonic interview to AG!!! total crap spewed all arnd during the talk :D
act 4 : AG (as ashish) asks H to submit his resume to some bloke in another hostel who'll handle it to ashish!!! mind u - all this is happening at 2 in the morning !!
act 5: AG & others plant themselves in the road which H will take IF he goes to submit his resume (that is he falls for the prank :D)
act 6 : @230 sure enuf H is caught riding a scooter towards his destination (the phony fella) - with a bag containing 2 copies of his resume.
act 7 : bumps session in the middle of the road - H's explanation : "arre yaar - i knew something was fishy. but even if there was a 1% chance of all this being true - i wudnt like to miss the chance" ok valid pt - but we still kicked his ass.:D
ps : the "baap" of all pranks i have seen was (mite have mentioned it b4 but still) - was in my 2nd yr - when some seniors took some salt and aluminium foil and a small pipe and imitated sucking on the "dope" in front of stunned parents of some freshies !!!

had to bid bye-bye to another dream of mine today. it was hard - but guess have got used to this feeling of dejection/defeat/dismay - whatever... the following lines echo in my mind :
Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
I Need the end to set me free
..........
No one but me can save myself, but it's too late
Now I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death Greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye

the economists of our country are rejoicing over the fact that credit-lending is reaching record heights. i say "ghanta!!". boiling down to individuals (like me!!) - credit toh le liya - abb paise kahan se bhaarun!!! credit cards are addictive stuff - they allow you to splurge now and suffer later. the beauty of cards is that for even a mildly optimistic person like me, it allows you to forget worries about "jugadofying" cash right now and go right ahead and have a blast in some pub!! (ok - i dont go to pubs that much, just quoting an example :D).
and now when the time comes to pay out - i'm having a hard time finding some cash :((. college life sucks when it comes to money!!
add to that all the charges they levy on ur card - service charges, surrakhsa premium, this-that premium. grrrr - guess gotta rid of my card soon. it's turned out to b a necessary evil.
ps: saw a website few yrs back - some american girl was asking for a helping hand in clearing out her card credits !! actually asking for donations from "philanthropists"!! in states i guess it's a big thing if ur credit-history turns sour :D. (got the hint right?? :D)
